The Battler's Prayer

The Battler's Prayer

(Aug-2008)

Give me the strength to reach the skies
So that I can snatch the bright white stars!
Give me the muscles to leap a leap
Beyond the seas, beyond the oceans!

Give me the valor to fight my foes within
The tiger’s might to triumph in my battles
Give me the vigor; Give me that verve
Equip me always with the toughest nerve

Give me the power, Oh My Lord
To face this Life in its lowest ebbs
Back me with the courage of a wounded warrior
To destroy the evils and to stand Tall!

When I walk towards my pyres
Bless me with the sharpness of the sharpest arrow
To stare the Death, Oh God-My Friend
Right in her Charming Red Eyes!!

The Celebration

                 THE CELEBRATION

Chirping birdies, orchestrating the mystic tunes
Sparkling butterflies, flapping in tandem!
Distant dolphins swerving and skylarking
Cubs and calves, leaping in joy, together!

Orchids and lilies, blushing to bloom
Scented trees, throwing their fragrance afar
Sleepy Moon awaits the glimpse of his friend
Routine yet, rejuvenating celebration, about to begin

Emerging behind the soaring mountains
Ascending above the giant blue waves!
Sprinkling his golden-peach rays, beyond yon
The Spectacular Sun, rises, to reignite and rekindle their Hope!

They sing and dance, again and again, with the esoteric Star!
Perhaps their last day, they smile on, blessedly ignorant!
Mutely shouting to the learned lot, To
Celebrate Life, each day, every moment!!

~ HMV ~

Poet's View: All the nature's creatures welcome the scientific, yet divine star-Sun and celebrate Sunrise like a festivity, every single day. They are quietly indicating to the mankind to enjoy it, without worrying about the tomorrows!

Glossaryorchestrate = organize; swerve = turn; skylark=play/dance around; yon=yonder/distant; rekindle=evoke; esoteric=mysterious/beyond common understanding

The Puppeteer

THE PUPPETEER

The rhythmic crescendo reached the skies!
The charming Red Puppet, would fall and rise
Intelligent, gentle, egotistic and vulnerable, typical of his ilk
Pushed into the maze, never out of yonder gaze!

The doll laughed, cried, loved and piqued
Toddled, ran and flew around, fought and killed
Thought he controlled; Alas! being the controlled!
Strings were pulled, by the mighty hands!

Puppets on stage, off it, living thru illusion,
Forgot the connect, crafted to forget, scripted in prelude
Cheered the actors, those visible mortals
Seldom did they notice, the invisible Master

The wily Puppeteer can juggle a myriad strings
His artful guile beyond fathomable thoughts
Tiny toys enter, dance and exit; the show goes on forever!
He knows the end, before creating His puppets, dear!!

 ~HMV

Poet's view: Apparently, the puppets depict the humans, whose lives are controlled by the Almighty. He has written the fate, he knows the beginning and the end, already!

Glossary: Puppeteer=one who plays puppets; crescendo=loud music; ilk=kind; yonder=distant/beyond; pique=offend/anger; toddle=baby walk: prelude=introduction; seldom=rarely; wily/guile=crafty; fathomable = understandable

His Master's Voice

His Master’s Voice

Wandering through the woods, wondering to untangle myths
To ‘Connect’ with the Supreme One, mulling it as the destination
The good old shepherd, amidst the Nature’s noise
Always yearned to hear, His Master’s Voice

The old man woke up, while he was awake
Brows lifted, eyes gleamed, mountains clapped, perhaps!
Ears drooped but the heart could hear His Voice
Riches forsaken, faiths abandoned, transcending bias and bigotry

Ubiquitous was His melody, in the hum of ripples,
In the echo of infant’s beam, in the chime of Rainbow arches!
In the murmur of kissing flowers, In the shivers of skies
In the tip-toed death’s clutches, in void, in Nothingness!

Presumed as end - the ‘Connect’ was forgotten, perpetual it was
For He shaped the shepherd, He steered the sheep, residing within, ever pervasive
This new-found man, albeit deafening Noise, realized the Sound of Silence!
That no means was indeed needed, to listen to His Master’s Voice!!

~ HMV ~

Poet’s View:  Poem depicts the enlightenment of a man who has forsaken riches and man-made faiths, wanting to connect with the Almighty. He now hears the Lord’s voice in everything around and realizes that no medium/means is required to stay ‘connected’ with Him.
Glossary: untangle=decode; mull=think over; yearn=crave; transcend=surpass; bigotry=religious prejudice; ubiquitous=omnipresent; beam=smile; perpetual=everlasting; pervasive= all-encompassing; albeit=although.

The Heartless Doe!

Zillionth time, the lioness recounted the tale to her cub -
- ‘She adored her allies and admired her foes!
Tigers, foxes, hyenas – bunnies, birds and doves
There lived a Heartless Doe, cruel or kind, judge with your mind!’

‘Rivals despised her, kin were cynical too! Legends advised,
But tireless was she, explaining the inexplicable to the two!
She failed to speak softer, they differed to look deeper
There lived a Heartless Doe, not soulless, flawless neither’

‘She suffered inside, soared higher nonetheless
They blamed - she rebutted; she rued - they were ruthless
Eyes wider, blind they were, to see her golden heart
There lived a Heartless Doe, unaware of guile and art!’

Alas! the fist fight was endless, none would sway
Silenced by her soul, she withdrew and flew far away!’
I know not, if the Doe was Heartless or was it Him!
There lived a Heartless Doe… “Oh! she wasn’t so!” cried the little lion.

~ HMV ~

Poet’s View:  The poet tries to capture the perspective of all creatures/humans in general, using the story of a fabled Flying-Doe. He/she is a victim of emotional misunderstanding, from one’s own point of view, but the world around thinks otherwise.

Glossary: Doe = Female deer; despise=hate; kin = relatives; soar=fly; rebut=contradict; rue=regret; guile = wiliness/cleverness; sway = bend/fluctuate

Unto the Skies!!

Plunged from crests atop blue mountains
Into realms unknown, swamped by demons of dark
Lump in my throat quells the loudest shrieks
Yet with the majestic lion’s roar - I will fly unto the skies!

Eyes blurred with tears, sight marred with fears
Forsaken I lay, drowning in the storm within
They laugh while I weep, they create the din
Yet with the deadly tiger’s leap - I will fly unto the skies!

No watcher can see, the wounds are invisible
No potion can soothe; the scars are mystical
The dark night shall fade, golden rays emboldening my wings
Yes, with brute force I will flutter - to fly unto the skies!

Marooned by the Almighty, am I? doubting His guardianship
Questioning this question, searching for answers - unfathomable
The Master’s voice speaks, heard loud in stillness and silence
Retells me I am born to fly – fly unto the skies – fly into the skies!

-HMV

Poet’s view:
The feelings are that of a strong bird metaphorical of human mind, after having gone through a great fall, experiencing deep pain. At the same time, it is trying to self-motivate, vowing to itself - to come back hard and fly high!

Glossary:
crest=peak; realm=territory; quell=suppress; din=disturbance; potion=tonic; embolden=bolster/strengthen; maroon=abandon; unfathomable=immeasurable/vast

I am Your self!

The innocent dive he takes into her eyes
That serene laughter sounds ever so nice!
I peep through the door, silent, from  far
To Experience the bliss of the mother for her tiny star!!

Neither knows he the language to convey his needs
Nor does he think before he bites on the beads
He doesn't celebrate his victories; and he worries not about his sorrows
He leans on to her carefree,
For he unknowingly knows, she'll be there for his tomorrows

I stand amazed as if I were enlightened
of the Truth of surrendering to You!
To realise that I am the baby and the mother is Thou
I am the puppet you created, my Lord; I am not me but your self!

~HMV

Poet's Point of View:
A philosophical comprehension of an onlooker who likens the 'Child-Mother' relationship to that of 'Human-God'.
